Heath Speedwell is a native perennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in heath, dry grassland and woodland margins, to a mature height of up to 30cm.

The Heath Speedwell is named after its common habitat. The stem and leaves are hairy and the leaf margin is shallowly-toothed. It has delicate pale flowers, with long stamens, borne in spikes.

Botanic classification and naming: Heath Speedwell is a member of the Plantain (Plantaginaceae) family. The genus name 'Veronica' identifies the plant as a Speedwell and its species name 'officinalis' means 'herbal medicinal plant'.
