Upright Hedge Parsely is a tall, erect and branching, sparsely-leaved plant with downy, parsely-like leaves. It has rigid hairy stems and bears white or pink flowers clustered into small umbels.

'Torilis' identifies the plant as a Hedge Parsely and its species name 'japonica' means 'field plant'.
