Round-Leaved Cranesbill is a
native
annual plant of the UK, typically found growing in hedgerows and waste ground, to a mature height of up to 40cm.
Round-Leaved Cranesbill is named after the roundish overall appearance of its leaf shape and the 'beaked' shape of its fruit capsule. Characteristic features include: a small flower with funnel-shaped arrangement of pink petals; palm-shaped leaves divided into broad lobes; and reddish stems.
Botanic classification and naming: Round-Leaved Cranesbill is a member of the Geranium (Geraniaceae) family. The genus name
'Geranium' identifies the plant as a Cranesbill and its species name 'rotundifolium' means 'round-leaved plant'.
