Common Fleabane is a native perennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in meadows, water margins and wetland, to a mature height of up to 60cm.

Common Fleabane has characteristic flowers with a large central disc, surrounded by relatively short ray florets, and a greyish 'wooly' appearance to its leaves and stems. The name 'Fleabane' comes from the belief that the plant's smell is able to act as a flea repellent.

Botanic classification and naming: Common Fleabane is a member of the Daisy (Asteraceae) family. The genus name 'Pulicaria' identifies the plant as a False Fleabane and its species name 'dysenterica' means 'medicinal plant for dysentry'.
