Greater Sea-Spurrey is a
native
perennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in saltmarshes and coastal areas, to a mature height of up to 30cm.
Greater Sea-Spurrey is larger than other spurreys and has conspicuous flowers with broad petals of pastel-pink to lilac, fading to white in the centre.
Botanic classification and naming: Greater Sea-Spurrey is a member of the Carnation (Caryophyllaceae) family. The genus name
'Spergularia' identifies the plant as a Sea-Spurrey and its species name 'media' means 'middle-sized'.
