Blue Fleabane is a native annual plant of the UK, typically found growing in sandy areas and waste ground, to a mature height of up to 50cm.

Blue Fleabane has long lilac outer ray florets and shorter yellow disc florets. The common name reference to 'Blue' is thought to refer to the overall flower appearance from a distance. The name 'Fleabane' comes from the belief that the plant's smell is able to act as a flea repellent.

Botanic classification and naming: Blue Fleabane is a member of the Daisy (Asteraceae) family. The genus name 'Erigeron' identifies the plant as a Fleabane and its species name 'acris' means 'bitter-tasting plant'.
