Branched Bur-Reed is a native perennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in lakes, waterways and swampland, to a mature height of up to 150cm.

Branched Bur-Reed grows in shallow water and swampland. It can be kept under control along watersides by allowing cattle to graze.

Botanic classification and naming: Branched Bur-Reed is a member of the Bulrush (Typhaceae) family. The genus name 'Sparganium' identifies the plant as a Bur-Reed and its species name 'erectum' means 'upright plant'.
