Wall Speedwell is a
native
annual plant of the UK, typically found growing in cropland, grassland and waste ground, to a mature height of up to 25cm.
Wall Speedwell flowers have a similar hue to those of Field Speedwell and Germander Speedwell, but they are small and with shorter stamens. The stems and leaves are very hairy. The upper leaves are oval and unlobed while the lower leaves are more rounded and have shallowly-lobed edges.
Botanic classification and naming: Wall Speedwell is a member of the Plantain (Plantaginaceae) family. The genus name
'Veronica' identifies the plant as a Speedwell and its species name 'arvensis' means 'field plant'.
