Water Forget-Me-Not is a
native
perennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in water margins and wetland, to a mature height of up to 30cm.
Water Forget-Me-Not at first sight looks very similar to Wood Forget-Me-Not. However, the Water Forget-Me-Not flower clusters tend to be more open, its petals paler, and its stems and leaves are smooth.
Botanic classification and naming: Water Forget-Me-Not is a member of the Borage (Boraginaceae) family. The genus name
'Myosotis' identifies the plant as a Forget-Me-Not and its species name 'scorpioides' means 'coiled (inflorescence)'.
Benefits: Newts lay eggs in the leaves of this plant and the plant provides a habitat for tadpoles and other aquatic animals.
