Wild Carrot is a native biennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in chalk grassland and waste ground, to a mature height of up to 100cm.

Wild Carrot is the genetic 'wild type' of cultivated varieties grown to produce the root vegetable known as 'carrot'.

Botanic classification and naming: Wild Carrot is a member of the Carrot (Apiaceae) family. The genus name 'Daucus' identifies the plant as a Carrot and its species name 'carota' means 'Carrot'.
