Rough Hawkbit is a
native
perennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in grassland and meadow, to a mature height of up to 50cm.
Rough Hawkbit, as the name suggests, has a rough texture, with leaves, stem and sepals being covered in long coarse hairs. It has unbranched stems and the flowers are borne singly at the end of the stem.
Botanic classification and naming: Rough Hawkbit is a member of the Daisy (Asteraceae) family. The genus name
'Leontodon' identifies the plant as a Hawkbit and its species name 'hispidus' means 'bristly plant'.
