Wild Parsnip is a native biennial plant of the UK, typically found growing in grassland and waste ground, to a mature height of up to 150cm.

Wild Parsnip is the genetic 'wild type' of cultivated varieties grown to produce the root vegetable known as 'parsnip'.

Botanic classification and naming: Wild Parsnip is a member of the Carrot (Apiaceae) family. The genus name 'Pastinaca' identifies the plant as a Parsnip and its species name 'sativa' means 'cultivated plant'.
